Wrekin Products and Bradfords Building Supplies tackle the gully grate theft

The builders merchant only policy from Wrekin Products, products for civil engineering, worked for Bradfords Building Supplies to help Dorset County Council resolve its growing problem of gully grate theft.

Jon Worrall, business manager at Bradfords Dorchester says: “We have built a relationship with Dorset County Council over many years and knew the extent of the problem they were facing, so we introduced Wrekin Products’ technical sales manager Barry Turner to offer a practical answer. Barry did a cracking job demonstrating to the Council how using Wrekin Products Tri-Way anti-theft gully grate in conjunction with Multigrate temporary grates can provide a cost effective solution to the theft problem.”

Tri-Way gully grate combines a captive hinge with double triangular seating to allow single unit opening with an anti-theft mechanism to stop thieves. Multi-Grate can be fitted immediately by a maintenance crew on the first visit. Its robust design means the roadway can be used normally until a permanent replacement is installed.

“Dorset County Council has already ordered 200 Tri‐Way anti‐theft gully grates and they are trialling Multi‐Grate” continues Worrall. “Because Wrekin Products only sell through builders’ merchants this gave me the confidence to call them in. We are now talking to other customers about Tri-Way, Multigrate and some of its other innovative products.”
