The deal comes after Wolseley were appointed a supply chain partner in a deal worth £3m a year for four years.

The UK’s largest distributor of construction products will provide a complete materials solution to meet the maintenance requirements of whg’s 20,000 homes.

The new 8,000 sq ft site in Walsall will essentially operate as a builders’ merchants but with whg, a not-for-profit Registered Social Landlord, as the sole client, ensuring that its tradesmen can always get the materials they need.

Wilby Meadows, director for public sector at Wolseley, said: “We are delighted to win this prestigious contract, which is a result of our extensive experience in the social housing sector. A key factor was also our OGCbuying.solutions framework agreement, which makes the procurement process easier for public sector customers and helps us deliver significant efficiency savings.”

Ian Finlay, director of property services for whg, said: “We look forward to working with Wolseley to provide an extremely efficient response service to our tenants.”
