Wolseley confirms Build Center ‘scrutiny’

Plumbers and builders merchant group Wolseley has confirmed that its Build Center brand is one of those ‘under scrutiny’ but said it is not necessarily up for sale .

Wolseley finance director John Martin told the Telegraph that Build Center is yet to be “recategorised”.

“We will improve the performance of these businesses, and then either we classify them for retention in the group or sell them,” he said.

Martin also said that group would not rule out looking at more bolt-on acquisitions.

Wolseley released third quarter figures on Tuesday which showed that the group’s UK business still has some way to go but that the US market is improving.
