The Environment Awards aim to recognise Kent businesses for a wide variety of innovative environmental and community work and reward those organisations that demonstrate their corporate responsibility, high environmental performance and who have gained a competitive edge through environmental good practice.

Wienerberger’s Sittingbourne-based brick manufacturing plant, ISO14001 accredited in recognition of its enhanced environmental performance, received the award for its ‘Commitment to Continuous Improvement’.

Technical manager at Wienerberger’s Smeed Dean factory Mick Stone, said: “We place environmental issues at the heart of our business so naturally we are extremely pleased to have scooped this coveted award.

“The principles of environmental best practice are embraced by everyone at the Smeed Dean factory and we are delighted to have bought this award back to Sittingbourne.”
