The family of critically ill three-year-old Georgiana Pooley from Hull will get a new heating system in September thanks to the help of merchants and suppliers from across the North of England.
Being treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and at constant high risk of infection, Georgiana’s dad Stuart Pooley and his family wanted to ensure she had a warm home this winter.
After Stuart initially reached out to merchants Ian Pratt of MKM Anlaby, Keith Eames of MKM Hull and manufacturer Stelrad Radiators, help soon came from Ideal Boilers, Geberit and even an installer’s Facebook group.
The team will be installing a complete heating system, fuelled by an Ideal Vogue combi boiler, in addition to 11 radiators and heated towel rail from Stelrad. The work is due be completed in one day, with over a dozen installers from the Gas Chat Facebook group coming from as far afield as Liverpool and Nottingham to help.
Ideal Boilers’ Chris Billington, who will be helping on Saturday 19th September with the installation, said: “We were delighted to upgrade MKM’s generous donation to our top-rated boiler, so we can give this family additional support at this difficult time.”
Stuart Pooley said: “It is so amazing how many fantastic people are supporting us throughout these difficult times. We were really starting to worry coming into the winter months as Georgi has a very low immune system and is therefore at high risk of contracting cold and flu. We witnessed this first hand last year, when she ended up on the high dependency unit at Leeds General Infirmary for several weeks, where she was extremely poorly.
“Thank you is not enough to express our gratitude, but it comes in abundance from me, Beki (my wife), Taylor-Rose (big sister) and most of all my beautiful daughter Georgiana. Thank you to everybody involved in making our home safe and warm.”
