UK Construction Week reveal entertainment plans

Footfall is looking to double for UK Construction Week this year, expecting almost 60,000 guests to attend, here’s what you can expect to see at the show.

Following the success of last year’s show – which saw over 24,000 trade visitors and is expected to double this year – UK Construction Week are presenting several award shows celebrating the sector, and will be hosting its popular beer festival and other entertainment.

The first evening will see a black-tie gala at the new Vox, NEC Birmingham will host the first Construction Enquirer Awards, which are open to contractors, clients and suppliers, and the winners will be decided by an industry vote. A Top Ten will be published for the twelve different categories and overall winners revealed on the night.

UKCW will also be hosting a number of other new awards including, Concrete Awards as part of the Surface & Materials Show, the Infrastructure Awards as part of Civils Expo, the Structural Timber Awards in partnership with the Structural Timber Association and the BIM Awards in partnership with the Building Research Establishment.

There will be breakfast briefings with Glenigan and the Construction Products Association. The National Custom and Self Build Association will announce the winner of £5,000 and its Self Build on a Shoestring competition at Grand Designs Live. ITN Productions in partnership with the Home Builders Federation will be launching its ‘Foundations for the Future’ news-style programme at the Build Show. Irwin Tools Tradeperson of the Year will also be announced at the show.

They will also be hosting the beer and ale festival with more than 30 craft ales to try accompanied by live music. Gourmet food is available from a variety of stalls at the venue.

UK Construction Week takes place at Birmingham NEC from 18 – 20 October, visitors are able to attend Timber Expo, the Build Show, Civils Expo, the Surface and Materials Show, Energy 2016, Plant & Machinery Live, HVAC 2016, Smart Buildings 2016 and Grand Designs Live.
