Trianco have launched a new version of their Activair air source heat pump with increased power.
Following the success of the 3kW and 5kW models, which provide hot water only, the new higher-capacity 12kW version is capable of combining heating and hot water to provide all that a family needs.
The 12kW Activair generates the equivalent of 41,000 BTU’s/hr, easily enough to power a central heating system that operates nine-to-ten radiators. There are also strong advantages for the installation of this product with wet underfloor heating systems, as it is ideally suited and boasts green credentials too.
“Air source heat pumps operate at lower average temperatures – around 40ºC – which make them ideal for underfloor heating,” says Trianco technical director Stuart Shillito. “A renewable heat source that works at lower temperatures is seen by many installers as the way forward.”
Plus, at around 100kg, the Activair is quick and easy to install and only needs annual maintenance to support it. In fact, Trianco estimates that a low-maintenance air source heat pump can be 50% cheaper to install than a solar source, while an independent assessment by National Energy Action calculates that air source heat pumps operate at efficiencies between 270% and 370%.
