Builders merchant group Travis Perkins is aiming to improve the quality of its database with a new technology platform.
The DataFlux(R) platform from DataFlux will standardise product descriptions across the group to improve the in-store, call centre and online product search processes. The group has over 1,200 merchant and retail outlets operating under multiple brands including Travis Perkins, Wickes and Tile Giant and receives data information from over 1,200 suppliers in various formats and categories.
In addition to improving customer service, it is hoped that the project will deliver significant advances in operational efficiency when identifying and searching for products. Travis Perkins expects that data quality automation will significantly reduce the amount of time taken to manually fix errors throughout its store network.
Sean Sinclair, group head of data development at Travis Perkins, said: “We recognise that this project is a leap forward for our industry. By improving the value and accuracy of our product data, we will enhance the effectiveness of the 200 million-plus product searches we conduct each year.”
