Builders’ merchant group, Travis Perkins, has committed to supporting two charities, the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Keech Hospice Care for children, for 2010 and 2011.
The charities were chosen via an employee vote and wiill be supported through a range of Travis Perkins fundraising activities, such as its annual Family Fun Day and Charity Challenge events, as well as individual employee commitments. The group expects to raise over £30,000 for the charities.
Keech Hospice Care cares for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes. Many have progressive, degenerative conditions and their health deteriorates slowly over many years. Care is available either in the charity’s bright and comfortable hospice near Luton, or if requested, in the family home by a children’s community nurse.
Hannah Apps, of Travis Perkins’ charity committee said: “These two fantastic local charities were selected by employees and take into consideration the types of organisations we can best support as a business.
“Employee commitment to the WNAA and Keech Hospice Care is high, so we expect to raise a considerable amount of money for them as a result of organised events and employee motivated ones. We look forward to working closely with both organisations to support them over the next two years and to putting even more ‘fun’ into our fundraising.”
Last year, Travis Perkins’ head office supported Mencap and Action for Children.
