Deepesh Makwana, who works at the Tottenham branch of Selco Builders Warehouse on White Hart Lane, is planning a trip abroad after becoming the first person to win the company’s Selco Predictor competition.

Open to customers and Selco staff, the Selco Predictor was launched in January in conjunction with talkSPORT, giving participants the chance to become an instant millionaire by correctly predicting the results of the ten Barclays Premier League weekend fixtures.

Selco has also established branch-specific mini-leagues, allowing customers and colleagues the chance to compete with each other.

Lifelong Newcastle United fan, Makwana is the first of the monthly winners, having scored the highest number of points in January within any of the Selco leagues across the UK. Further prizes will be awarded each month with an instant £1 million available to anyone correctly predicting all ten scores in any given week.

Makwana said: “It hasn’t sunk in yet. This will make a great family holiday. I have two small children so we may plan a trip to Disneyland with my partner. However there are many possibilities as it’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to go on holiday, so I cannot wait to get my hands on the vouchers.

“I think I’ve now spurred on other people within the branch to up their game and emulate my performance in the predictor. It has created a competitive atmosphere within the store and I now have a lot to live up to for the rest of the season!”
