TP acts to offer refurbishment services

Builders merchant Travis Perkins aims to create a retro-fitting package refurbishment service for contracts that improve energy efficiency in existing housing stock.
The builders merchant plans to bring together manufacturers, contractors, installers, and environmental specialists and integrate the services into a single package.

“One of the issues we have is there are lots of individual applications and specialist installers but no one has put a system together,” says chief executive Geoff Cooper. “We need something that will make vendors and manufacturers develop their offering and work together to provide a systems approach.”

Travis Perkins’ planned acquisition of the BSS Group would give the group the necessary strength in plumbing and heating to allow it to be a key facilitator in such a system, Cooper added.
