Tom and friends rise to heating distress challenge

When a Halifax plumber heard that elderly widow Molly Taylor had been robbed in her own home of the money she had saved to update her heating system he decided to help out.

Tom and friends rise to heating distress challenge

“When I heard about the ordeal this old lady had been subjected to, I thought I would supply and fit a new boiler for her, to prove that there are good people about,” said Tom Spellman, of Spellman Plumbing and Heating Engineers. “I was going to provide the boiler, but when the manager at my local PTS branch and the boiler manufacturer, Baxi, heard the story they offered to supply it free of charge.”

Mark Dowson, manager of PTS in Halifax, explained: “We thought that Tom Spellman made a very generous gesture, offering his time and all the products for nothing, and wanted to support him. And when our local Baxi representative, Nick Smith, heard the story, he was pleased to help too.”

Baxi and PTS have supplied a Baxi Solo HE 18kW heat only boiler for Tom to install in Molly’s home.

“The generosity is overwhelming,” said Molly Taylor. “It’s not been a pleasant few days, but this is so kind I just don’t know what to say.”
