The latest group of graduates from the Grafton/SCA Timber Supply Timber Champions course have been to Sweden to see their training at first hand.
16 Buildbase and Selco graduates from the SCA Institute of Wood Science course visited SCA’s forests, tree nursery and sawmills in Sweden earlier this month.
During the trip Mike Small of the Buildbase branch in Barnsley was presented with the SCA Cup for 2009, for achieving top marks within the group.
The course has been running for seven years and Martin Lee, commercial director at Buildbase, says: “The partnership with SCA has proved profitable for Buildbase, giving our employees the confidence to make use of the knowledge they’ve gained in their daily business lives. Buildbase were the first national merchants to stock FSC-certified timber in all branches and many of our businesses are known as timber specialists. The Timber Champions course reinforces our strength in timber and timber products.”
