Three Counties launches flagship depot

Three Counties Timber and Building Supplies has joined forces with racking specialist Filplastic Ltd to launch Hemel Hempstead’s largest independent builders’ merchant depot.

Three Counties launches flagship depot

The merchant appointed Filplastic to complete the design and fit out of its new flagship trade and retail outlet on Mark Road, Hemel Hempstead Industrial Estate.

Richard Dawson, managing director of the timber and building supplies business, said the new depot represented the next step in the company’s evolution.

Founded eight years ago, the merchant started life in Bourne End near Hemel Hempstead and has grown to turnover £6.5m across the whole business. The company also has a two-acre depot based in Stoke Road in Aylesbury and is looking to expand further across the region.

Dawson said the new depot looked fantastic and he was delighted with the job Filplastic had done.

“We appointed them to do the designs and they were very professional,” he said. “On the back of that we asked them to supply and fit the racking. The whole job was completed efficiently and to a high standard which enabled us to launch the new depot on time.”

The managing director added the site was much more accessible for trade customers and public alike.

“Our motto has always been local merchants, local values, and the new site certainly feeds into that. It is more centrally based and stocks everything that we know our trade and retail customers require,” he said.

The five-figure contract saw Filplastic draw up designs for the shop, warehouse and timber yard on the two acre site, as well as supply racking to the entire development.

Filplastic, which is based in Eastrington in East Yorkshire, ensured the racking was in Three Counties’ corporate colours of black and orange so the new development reflected the growing company’s brand.

Installation started in early 2015 and the job was completed last month allowing Three Counties to launch its new depot in March, creating six new jobs in the town.

Graham Matthews, of Filplastic said: “We have worked for Three Counties Timber and Building Supplies in the past but on smaller jobs so we were absolutely delighted when they appointed us to take on a job of this size.

“We’re really pleased with the final job. Three Counties is a growing company and we are very proud to be a part of their impressive expansion plans.”
