Supply chain issues dampen Forterra factory plans

Brick and block manufacturer Forterra has put the brakes on its £27m refurbishment of the Wilnecote brick factory.
The company has blamed global supply chain issues, which mean things like semi-conductors and chips used in the robotic equipment are in short supply.

“The factory is now expected to close at the end of September 2022 rather than at the end of June 2022, with the duration of the project remaining unchanged and the factory due to close for a 12-month period,” a statement in a trading update said, at the same time as confirming that brick prices rose 12% on April 1 and 16% in January.
