Commercial director Alan Boyd told buildersmerchantsjournal.net that this was a move the company had been working on for some time and that it was a case of finding the right person to manage the section.

“As members of the NBG LLP group, we’ve been able to take advantage of some extremely good deals to enable us to move into this area,” he said. “It will allow us to sell more to our existing customer base as well as to find new customers and to boost sales during the winter months when traditional building material sales are quieter.”

Managing the new branch is Derek Bowdler who has previously worked for Wolseley and for a major contractor, so he “understands the business from all angles”.

Suppliers have been extremely supportive of the new venture and Boyd says that he plans to expand the venture throughout the company.

Stamco currently has four branches, St Leonards on Sea, Eastbourne, Hove and Shoreham.
