Stamco move west for fourth branch

Sussex-based builders and timber merchants Stamco Building Supplies have expanded onto a new 1.5acre site in Shoreham, West Sussex.

Stamco move west for fourth branch

The new branch is on the main A259 Brighton Road in Shoreham harbour, opposite a large national chain and next to another. Around on third of the space is warehousing and offices, the rest is yard and the branch covers the company’s full range of timber and building materials.,

The company’s existing branches are in Hastings – the head office, Hove and Eastbourne.

Commercial manager Alan Boyd says that the new branch will take some of the pressure off the Hove depot which had really grown out of its premises. “The Hove branch is as big as we can get it and we were really looking to relocate it,” he says. “Then we found this site and decided that a better option would be to open a fourth branch,”

Deliveries are now concentrated out of the Shoreham branch, leaving the Hove branch free to concentrate on collect business.

The Shoreham branch will also bring in business from customers unwilling to travel as far as Hove. “We did some customer research which showed us that many would be unwilling to travel the 15 to 20 minutes further to get to Hove, so the Shoreham branch seemed the idea solution.”

The next move for the company will be the redevelopment of the Hove branch and, after that, possible expansion further east into Kent. “Taking the deliveries away from Hove has enhanced the branch for customers who used to get annoyed that they couldn’t park if there were lorries in the way.” Shoreham has parking for over 20 cars, plus room for three artics to load and unload.
