Sporting Boost For Swansea Hospice

20181003 111003Customers and staff at a Swansea builders merchant have proved ‘great sports’ by raising more than £1,300 for a local hospice.

Selco Builders Warehouse, based on Upper Fforest Way in Llansamlet, held a raffle in branch for two Christmas cracker sporting fixtures in the city in aid of Ty Olwen.

Entrants had the chance to win four hospitality tickets to Swansea City’s Boxing Day home match with Aston Villa, while a quartet of tickets were also up for grabs for Ospreys’ Pro 14 clash with Llanelli Scarlets four days earlier.

The raffle raised £1,305 to help Ty Olwen continue to offer services including specialist palliative care for patients with complex care needs, support at Morriston Hospital and through community and day care service teams.

Warren Matthews, branch manager of Selco Swansea, said: “We are delighted to raise vital funds for Ty Olwen which is renowned for doing outstanding work for the people of Swansea and surrounding areas.

“Our staff and customers were only too happy to support our sporting raffle and we hope it will make a real difference.”

Helen Murray, chairperson of Ty Olwen Trust, said: “We are hugely grateful to Selco for providing this wonderful donation. All of the money will go directly towards care and support for our patients and their families.”

With hundreds of trade brands always in stock and open seven days a week, Selco Swansea and the other 65 branches in UK are firmly focused on helping local tradespeople complete their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible.
