After completing a bike ride of more than 420 miles over four days, Eddie Emblen, national geosynthetics manager at Wrekin Products has raised more than £800 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over 600 riders took part in the annual bike ride from Wolverhampton to Aberdovey on the Welsh coast.
Emblen along with 40 other riders chose to extend the challenge even further and started from York to ride the route of Stage 2 of this year’s Tour de France. The riders passed through Sheffield before joining the rest of the cyclists at Wolverhampton.
“There were some tough climbs along the way, particularly on the Tour de France route,” said Emblen. “It was well worth it once we made it to the spectacular views at the top and, of course, we got to enjoy the fast descents on the other side. Apart from one two hour storm we had mostly good weather for the trip.
“It was an amazing experience and I’m really grateful to everyone who sponsored me, including the generous donation from Wrekin Products. It definitely spurred me on for the 70 mile ride home.”
Simon Turner, Wrekin Products sales director added: “Massive congratulations to Eddie and the other riders for completing this challenge for a very worthy cause.”
