Snows Timber celebrates a decade of certification

In the middle of National Tree Week (29th November to 7th December), Snows Timber is celebrating its own engagement with sustainable forests and wood supply, marking 10 years of its dual FSC® and PEFC™ chain of custody certification through BM TRADA.

A sapling Scots Pine will be presented to Snows’ top 100 customers to commemorate the anniversary.

“Chain of custody certification is even more relevant today, as it represents a high percentage of the organization needed for customers to achieve EUTR compliance,” said Snows’ purchasing director John Lloyd, responsible for the company’s original certification on 4th December 2004.

“Today, major contractors, local authorities and major house-builders around the country regard chain of custody certification as an extra mark of quality from suppliers. We continue to find it an advantage and insist on it from our own supplier base,” Lloyd confirms.

Over 97% of all products purchased by Snows Timber have either FSC® or PEFC™ certification.

Vic Bowen, chief operating officer, BM TRADA – Certification UK, added: “By demonstrating their continued commitment to chain of custody certification, Snows Timber is providing an assurance to clients and suppliers that their products are sourced and produced in compliance with a globally recognised environmental, social and economic standard.

“We would like to congratulate Snows Timber on their fantastic achievement and we look forward to working with them over the next 10 years!”
