SIG reports sales rise

SIG plc, the distributor of insulation and building products saw sales from continuing operations rise 8% for the ten months to the end of October, compared with the same period last year, according to today’s Interim Management Statement (November 9).
In Mainland Europe revenues for the year to date were up by 12%, with the French operations performing the best.

In the UK & Ireland, which represents just under half of Group sales, revenues from continuing operations were up by c.3% for the year to date. Sales from the Group’s UK distribution and merchanting businesses ( which account for 92% of UK sales) also grew by 3%.

In line with its strategy of growing the business organically, subject to suitable opportunity and economic backdrop, SIG has opened six new branches in the second half to date – three in the UK (including two Builders Express branches) and three in France.

The management statement says that the group “made good progress so far” and that the board is “encouraged by the level of outperformance and market share gains achieved”.
