SIG joins the BMF

SIG, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of specialist building products, has joined the Builders Merchants Federation.
With a global turnover of £2.6bn, SIG are the UK market leader in the distribution of insulating materials and exterior roofing products and a leading supplier of non-residential interior products. It has 681 locations across Europe, of which 308 are in the UK. The business operates 1700 commercial vehicles and makes 13000 deliveries a day, many of these to builders merchants.

Mark Tomlin, SIG UK group sales & marketing director, said he was delighted to have joined the BMF. He said: “Merchants are a crucial part of the construction supply chain, offering product choice and value added services to customers.

“We are keen to be a part of the work the BMF is doing and are impressed by their drive to be the voice for merchants in the UK. We believe that by being members, we are supporting both the construction industry as a whole and the ambitions of the merchant sector.”

BMF managing director, John Newcomb, said: “I am delighted that SIG, who I met for the first time at the All Industry Conference this year, see the value in the BMF’s current direction and proposition.

“Our aim is to represent the whole of the building materials distribution industry. Our ambition is to ensure that our industry’s views are heard and acted upon. The greater our number, the more influence we have, and I hope many more companies will join SIG and the other new merchant and supplier members the BMF has attracted over the last 12 months and work with us to achieve our vision of one industry with one voice.”
