Setcrete Deep Base stands out for Solihull home refurbishment

The product, part of Setcrete’s range of flooring products for the professional builder, was used to build up floor levels at the four bedroom house, while allowing the job to be completed quickly and efficiently.

Following the removal of a dividing wall between the property’s kitchen and lounge in order to make one large kitchen-diner, the floor was left uneven by a depth of 30mm. After cleaning and preparing the concrete substrate, property developer, Trevor Jones, applied Setcrete Acrylic Primer to promote the handling characteristics of the levelling compound. The rapid setting Deep Base compound was then applied at a thickness of 30mm to the subfloor. With the ability to be installed in thicknesses of 5mm-50mm, the compound was easily capable of raising the floor by the required depth in just one application. Once dry, the smooth finish provided the perfect base for the new loose lay laminate floorcovering to be laid.

The specially designed properties of the Deep Base compound mean it can be walked on after just 90 minutes, and new floorcoverings can be laid after as little as 6 hours; this is substantially quicker than alternative solutions, such as concrete, which takes around a day per millimetre of thickness to dry. This makes Setcrete Deep Base floor levelling compound the ideal product for jobs where floor levels must be rapidly built up, but where a durable, professional finish is required.

Trevor Jones, who owns the property and who completed the job himself, said: “The products were simple to use and the instructions were very clear. I’ve never used a Deep Base compound before, but the whole thing was very easy to complete. The results are absolutely great, I will definitely be using Setcrete products again in the future.”
