A hospice which cares for children in Essex, North London and Hertfordshire will receive a major fundraising boost after Selco Builders Warehouse donated materials for the construction of a new stage.
Haven House Children’s Hospice, a local charity which provides specialist care for children and young people who have life-limiting conditions, has in the past been forced to hire a stage for major fundraising events.
However, thanks to a donation of scaffold boards and external ply wood from Selco’s branch in Tottenham, the hospice – based in Woodford Green, Essex – will now have a permanent platform for entertainment.
“We are extremely grateful for the materials donated by Selco as they will make a big difference to our fundraising events, which in turn will help the children and families we support,” said Kate Donoghue, community and events fundraiser at the hospice.
“The fact we will no longer have to pay for the hire of the stage each time we host an event will really boost the revenue we make from events.”
Jamie Robinson, branch manager of Tottenham Selco which is based on White Hart Lane, added: “We always like to provide support for the local community where possible and Haven House Children’s Hospice is a very worthwhile cause.
“We hope that the stage will bring an increase of funds through to the hospice as well as providing fun and entertainment for the local community.”
