Selco Masters Cup goes to Birmingham

Birmingham, comprised of veteran players like Paul Devlin and Geoff Horsfield, took the title after beating Tranmere in a penalty shootout after a 3-3 draw, to be crowned the 2010 Selco Masters Champions.

Taking place at the LG Arena in Selco’s home town of Birmingham on Sunday September 5, the final saw eight teams made up of ex-professional players from around the world go head-to-head, battling it out to become Selco Masters Cup Champions.

Chris Cunliffe, operations director at Selco, said: “The whole evening was packed with goals and the crowd had a great time.

“On behalf of Selco, I’d like to congratulate Birmingham City. Hopefully the old boys’ success will spur on Alex McLeish’s young guns this season!”

He added: “The sponsorship of the Masters Cup was a great opportunity for Selco and has not only been tremendous fun but has been incredibly successful in supporting our marketing strategy and has meant we’ve been able to involve both our customers and our staff in supporting this exciting sporting event.”
