We are seeing a repeat of England’s cricketing dominance over Australia this month as the two nations’ more distinguished cricketers battle to win the over 70s Ashes.
This is the first series for the over 70’s in England. This follows the success of the ten match series (2009 to 2012) between the England and Australian over 60 teams. They hope to emulate the full England side and be No 1 in the World for 70+ cricket.
The first 2 Ashes tests have been played, and the results are in:
The 1st Test Match
England 164 for 8 in 50 overs.
Australia 100 all out in 38.4 overs. England won by 64 runs
The 2nd Test
Australia 235 for 7 in 50 overs.
England 236 for 2 in 46.4 overs. England won by 8 wickets
The final match takes place on Thursday August 22 at Sunbury on Thames Cricket Club. The start time for each of the Test Matches is 12.00pm. The games are 50 overs per side.
The series has been supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board and sponsored by Seevent Plastics, whose managing director, Ken Fisher, is a Sussex Seniors 60+ cricketer.
Seevent have sponsored the shirts and caps for the England side and are providing trophies for the series and the star players’ of the three matches.
