Russell Roof Tiles achieve top sustainable credentials

Russell Roof Tiles, have become the only British roof tile manufacturer to achieve an “excellent” rating for responsible sourcing.

The “Excellent” accreditation for BES 6001: Issue 3 shows an investment in sustainability right across its procurement process, from raw materials through to energy management throughout its production factories, and also means the company achieves maximum credits towards BREEAM and the revised building regulations, which replaced the ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’.

BES 6001 is the ‘Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products’, which is a standard and certification scheme created by the Building Research Establishment to help organisations improve their sustainability and reduce their impact throughout the supply chain.

Russell Roof Tiles are one of just 88 companies to be listed on Green Book Live – a web database of companies with BES6001.

Russell Roof Tiles commercial technical manager , Mark Parsons said: “This accreditation sets us apart from other manufacturers and is recognition of the hard work invested by Alex Gilroy, our national operations support manager, who has ensured we reflect the holistic approach to the sourcing of sustainable materials and reducing our impact on the environment.”
