Roofs for troops

Staffordshire based Russell Roof Tiles was selected to aid the build of over 340 homes for service families.

Roofs for troops

After more than 70 years, British troops are leaving Germany in one of the biggest moves by the Army in decades. The Lovell contract was for the design, build and handover of over 340 Service family homes under a redevelopment of the Stafford base which included new barracks accommodation, offices, workshops, shops and leisure facilities.

Russell Roof Tiles supplied their Grampian flat interlocking roof tiles in slate grey, peat brown and cottage red. The Grampian displays a traditional appearance of slate with the security of an interlocking design and the sustainability and economy of concrete. They supplied 350,000 of these tiles to a programme of delivering 15 dwellings a week.

Russell Roof Tiles are the third largest roof tile manufacturer in the UK by volume and the only British manufacturer to achieve ‘excellent’ on BES 6001.

At the end of 2015, in support of British servicemen, Russell Roof Tiles presented a cheque for £8,000 to injured and returning troop support charity, Help for Heroes.
