Ridgeons wins Outstanding Contribution Award

Independent East Anglian builders merchant Ridgeons has won an award for Outstanding Contribution at the Cambridge News Business Excellence Awards.

Ridgeons wins Outstanding Contribution Award

The company, which celebrates its 100th birthday this year, was presented with the award at a ceremony at Kings Collge Cambridge.

David Ridgeon, great grandson of the company’s founder Cyril Ridgeon; Anne Ridgeon, the company’s chairman; and Angela Rushforth, managing director, were all present to accept the Award.

Presented by Graham Ayres, managing director of Iliffe News & Media East, owners of Cambridge News, to David Ridgeon, the Award was made in recognition of the significant role the company has played in driving the regional economy and supporting local communities.

Graham Ayres said: “Ridgeons is a fantastic example of a great British business which has made an outstanding contribution to making the region such a successful and exciting business community.”

Ridgeon, who joined the family business in 1958 at the age of 23, said: “It is a great honour to receive this award on behalf of the family and the business. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved and are looking forward to celebrating our 100th Birthday this year with our employees, customers and the general community, through a planned schedule of celebratory activities.”
