Ridgeons hit 20 with new branch

Timber and builders merchant Ridgeons have expanded their network to 20 with the opening of a new branch in Peterborough. The new opening, in Fengate, marks the company’s first appearance in the town.

The 20,000sq ft warehouse occupies a 2-acre site off the A1139 to the east of Peterborough and will initially offer daily deliveries within a 15-mile radius. With kitchen and bathroom showrooms, a large heating and plumbing department and ranges of building materials, timber and sheet materials, paint, ironmongery and hand and power tools, the branch is open to both trade and retail customers.

Mike Randall, manager at Ridgeons’ Newmarket branch, has been responsible for getting the Peterborough operation underway and will be handing over the reins to Matt Marsden, currently assistant manager at Newmarket.

One of the UK’s largest independent builders merchants, Ridgeons’ main concentration of branches is in East Anglia and the East Midlands. The group have a five-year organic growth and acquisition strategy both to strengthen the branch network in their existing operational area and to spread operations to the west.
