RGB scouts community fund recipients

1st Chulmleigh Scouts are the latest winners of builders merchant  RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund following a public vote.

Up against Stithians Scouts in Cornwall and Exeter Division Guides, 1st Chulmleigh Scouts now have £1,000 to spend at RGB’s South Molton branch.  Just over 1,700 votes were received in total.

To protect all their equipment, 1st Chulmleigh Scouts have two sheds which are no longer fit for purpose.  The sheds house the group’s canvas tents which need to be kept dry when not in use.  The  £1,000 donation will therefore be used to carry out repairs and improvements to the sheds.

Ashley Christian from 1st Chulmleigh Scouts, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that voted for us and to RGB Building Supplies for the donation.

“The activities we provide children and young adults in Chulmleigh and the surrounding areas ensure they grow up with a wide range of skills, a healthy respect for themselves and their community, and a sense of adventure.  It’s therefore really important we’re able to protect our equipment and we’re thrilled we’re now able to update our facilities.”

Violet Hancock, Branch Manager at RGB South Molton, said: “The local community really got behind 1st Chulmleigh Scouts.  We’re looking forward to helping them complete the project and seeing the end result.”
