RGB helps care home create memories

RGB Building Supplies is donating £1,000 worth of building materials to Barnstaple based care home, Pilton House, helping them to create a memory lane corridor.

RGB helps care home create memories

Pilton House specialises in dementia care and is home to 27 residents. They recently created a 1960s themed reminiscence room, which brings positive therapeutic benefits for those living with advanced dementia.

The donation of £1,000 of building materials from RGB will now enable them to add a memory lane corridor. The corridor will be decorated in themes chosen by the residents, as personalising areas helps promote independent living and reduce stress and anxiety.

Roxanne Farkas, care manager said: “Developing our environment to reflect the emotional needs of our residents is paramount, however, as a charity we find our plans are often delayed because we rely on donations, fundraising and grant opportunities. We would like to say a big thank you to RGB Building Supplies for their donation and helping our residents to feel ‘at home’.”

Lee Kift, branch manager at RGB Barnstaple, said:”The memory lane corridor sounds like a great idea that will really benefit the residents of Pilton House and we’re delighted to donate £1,000 worth of materials to enable them to complete it. We look forward to seeing the end result.”
