Record-breaking slab for Lafarge

Lafarge Cement has recently supplied cement for a record-breaking concrete flooring project at a Tesco in Scotland.

Record-breaking slab for Lafarge

The internal and external floor slabs measure a total of 250,000sq m, meaning the UK’s largest ever steel fibre reinforced concrete flooring project is the size of 41 football pitches and required 13,000 tonnes of cement.

The cement was delivered from Lafarge Cement’s Dunbar Works at a daily rate of 250 tonnes a day in order to lay up to 4,500sq m of concrete a day.

Bulk cement sales manager for Lafarge Cement in Scotland Colin Cooper said: “We were delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project – contributing to laying a concrete floor that was almost 25 hectares in size!”
