Q2 construction output flat compared to previous quarter

Construction output in Q2 2014 increased compared with the same period last year, but there was no growth compared with Q1 of this year, statistics have revealed.
Figures release today (Friday 8 August) by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates output in Q2 grew by 4.8% compared to the same period in 2013.

The monthly estimates for construction output for June 2014 increased by 1.2% when compared with May 2014, with new work increasing by 0.9% and repair & maintenance increasing by 1.6%.

The preliminary estimate of GDP released on 25 July 2014, which estimated construction output to have fallen by 0.5% has been revised. It is now estimated to be 0.0%. The revision of 0.5 percentage points has no effect on total GDP to one decimal place.
