Proposed Travis Perkins scheme under fire

A proposal by builders merchant Travis Perkins to build nine flats and a new warehouse for its City Plumbing Supplies plumbers merchant is to go before the planning inspector following a public enquiry.

The scheme, in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, had been described by the local council as ‘unsatisfactory and dangerous’. The two-storey warehouse and flats would replace a florists shop and restaurant in the High Street.

However, there are local concerns that the access route is dangerous, with insufficient room for articulated lorries t get on and off the site.

Walton Central ward councillor Chris Sadler opposes the plans and has presented 176 signatures of protest to the inspector.

The Inspector is due to make his decision in the next couple of months.
