HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, visited Halifax-based i-plas to see their recycled building material which is revolutionising construction and building.

The Princess Royal received a tour of the factory to see first hand how ‘green’ British manufacturers are leading the way in transforming the UK economy.
i-plas converts used-plastic into products which are direct replacements for concrete, steel and wood. The material, also called i-plas, is being used by Network Rail to replace wooden sleepers, and is also moulded into Ezikerb, a recycled kerbstone. The company’s other products include decking, ground reinforcement blocks, roofing battens and tongue and groove profiles.
Howard Waghorn, managing director of i-plas, said: “The visit from Princess Anne is another piece of recognition for the world class product development we do here at i-plas. i-plas is helping to reduce the world’s reliance on carbon-releasing materials and is a versatile alternative to concrete, steel and wood for the construction industry.”
