Premdor takes on robots

Door and joinery manufacturer Premdor has taken on two new members of staff who are never late for work, they don’t take holidays and will never ask for a pay increase.

The new robots, called Rob and Baz, are the idea of Phil Johnson, Premdor’s engineering project manager and were built by Kuka of Japan and programmed by Maka of Germany.

They work together totally unsupervised by humans, to router particle board for use inside fireshield doors.

Other than inputting the cutting pattern programme the system is fully automated with constant monitoring in Germany via an internet link.
