Peter Beardsley raises roof

Ex-Newcastle United footballer Peter Beardsley was the guest of honour at the opening of Rinus Roofing, the third new roofing supplies store for director David Proos.

The opening, in Gateshead, follows two previous openings across the Scottish border in Irvine and Glasgow under the name Rightway Roofing Supplies.

The ex-footballer was on hand for pictures and fundraising activities including a raffle with a holiday, autographed football memorabilia and VIP match tickets as prizes. All proceeds are to go to local school The Cedars Special School.

The business has already clinched a deal for re-reoofing housing across Gatreshead with Redland slates and tiles. And Mr Proos, who sold his previous business Proos Roofing Supplies five years ago, has big plans for his latest venture.

“This celebrates a personal comeback for me,” he said. “I’m now planning long-term expansion with the aim of being the UK’s number one independent roofing merchant.”
