The eight apprentices spent the last 12 months learning the ropes at the independent timber and builders’ merchants.

Seven of the trainees received their awards from Alison Howe of Didac, a national training provider assessor, the other was presented by Phil White, Operations Manager at PBS. All the apprentices received bonuses to recognise their achievements during their time at Parker Building Supplies.

Three other PBS staff have also been awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Independent Merchant Leadership and Strategy.

Marketing Manager Jamie Pierce, who was awarded the diploma and is also Chair of the Builders Merchant Federation’s Young Merchants Group said: ” I really respect the BMF, so to receive this diploma was fantastic for all three of us. We are all going to continue our studies towards a merchant-specific Master’s degree.”
