Builders Merchants Journal – BMJ Publishing to Builders Merchants and the UK merchanting industry for more than 95 years
Independent builders merchant Otford Builders Merchant opened a new branch today (October 1).
The company, a member of the NBG LLP buying group, has acquired the former Build Center branch in Ashford, Kent.
Managing director Alan Boyd says that the 2.3acre site will be a good move for the company as it is in a growing area with impressive transport links.
The acquisition is part of expansion plans for the company, which is based in Otford, just north of Sevenoaks.
Ashford is one of 23 locations identified by the Office of Fair Trading as causing potential competition concerns after Build Center’s acquisition by Jewson parent company Saint Gobain Building Distribution.
