Onwards, ever onwards

You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Well, we’ve written enough times about company takeovers on the past few years so it was probably about time it happened to us.

BMJ and buildersmerchantsjournal.net – plus a number of sister titles – came under new ownership as of April 2.

Faversham House, the family and private equity run publishing firm has decided that its best prospects for the future lie with industries that do not include the builders merchants sector.

Happily, for us however, Datateam Business Media, disagree and are committed to continuing to publish market-leading communication channels to the UK builders merchanting sector. Which is nice.

As so many of our readers – both merchanting and manufacturing – know, it’s always disconcerting to have to go through a takeover. No matter how nice the new firm is, there’s always a feeling that things are happening to you that are out of your control.

However, I’d say it’s probably a lot better to be owned by people who want you than by those who don’t.

In this instance, a change of ownership also means a change of office location.
