Online plumbers merchant predicts 30% turnover increase

PlumbNation, the online-only plumbing and heating business, is forecasting record sales of £16m by the end of June 2012.

Online plumbers merchant predicts 30% turnover increase

The company, based in Bromborough, Wirral, turned over £11.8m in the last financial year and is aiming to increase that to £25m by 2015.

Managing director Royden Evans said that the rise was due to increased visibility online. “Last year we had 1.2m visitors to our website, this year the figure is at 1.5m and growing.

He said that the company has increased both standard advertising and pay-per-click, as well PR output, adding that being online-only doesn’t mean there are no overheads: “Last year we spent between £40,000 and £50,000 on Google advertising alone.”

He continued: “Of course it’s also about the increase in our product range. We started out in 2007 selling boilers and cylinders, and we’ve grown from that to bathrooms and kitchens – we’re developing our range every day and there’s much more to come.”

Changes to the website will include buying wizards and guides to help steer customers through the different options available for products. There will also be a feature where users can design their own wet room using their current bathroom dimensions and the buying wizard will automatically update the sales basket with everything needed for the job.
