OFT questions Travis Perkins’ Toolstation deal

The Office of Fair Trading has announced that intends to look into the take-over of Toolstation by builders merchant Travis Perkins.
Travis Perkins, which bought a 30% stake in Toolstation for £18m back in 2008, agreed to buy up the rest of the Somerset based company last month for £24m.

The builders merchant group says it sees “absolutely no basis for this notification and will be seeking clarification from the OFT at the earliest opportunity”.

Toolstation has 103 outlets and a strong internet and catalogue based operation.
