Plumbers merchant group Wolseley UK has received clearance from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) following its acquisition of 22 Burdens branches.
Wolseley UK Managing Director Steve Ashmore said: “I am pleased to be able to announce the OFT’s clearance of our acquisition of 22 Burdens UK branches. The deal is in line with Wolseley UK’s strategy to develop leading market positions in all of its businesses.
“The prospect of building on our presence in the utilities market and developing a leading role in the underground drainage sector is an exciting one and we are looking forward to the growth opportunities ahead.”
Following the sale of the 22 branches to Wolseley, the remaining WTB group was placed in administration.
Administrator Duff Phelps has sold some of the branches and is actively seeking purchasers for the rest.
