NMBS Exhibition celebrates success

Over 450 independent builders merchants trekked to Telford for this year’s exhibition held by The National merchant Buying Society.

NMBS Exhibition celebrates success

Among the highlights were the launch of the NMBS Exhibition App for Android smartphones, a live interview for Sky Sports on the Makita stand and the award of the best ‘I Love Independents’ stand.

The NMBS Exhibition App allowed exhibitors to scan a QR code printed onto delegates’ badges. This then saved all the relevant delegate details to the smartphone, allowing the exhibitors to access the information after the show.

“It will allow exhibitors to track the visitors to their stands, so that they can tell who visited, what they were interested in and when they visited,” said NMBS managing director Chris Hayward.

The App was launched along with a new fast-track registration service which allowed visitors speedier access to the show.

The Sky Sports interview was with former professional footballer Paul Merson who had been the Makita-sponsored guest speaker at the gala dinner the previous night. Now a football pundit for Sky Sports, Merson was interview by the channel about the announcement of the 2012 Euros England Squad.

Awards were made to supplier Brett Martin for the ‘I Love Independents’ Best Stand, whilst Parker Merchanting and Walsall Wheelbarrow won the Best Stand Award for their joint stand.
