NBG swell merchant numbers by five

Builders merchant buying group the National Buying Group have added six new members across their northern and central regions.
Simpson & Allinson of Barnard Castle have joined the group’s northern division. The central region’s numbers have been swelled by the addition of Hale & Co Drybrook in Gloucester, Hughes Forrest in Newport, south Wales, ST Plastering in Stoke on Trent and Kingsley Bathroom, Plumbing and Heating in Northampton.

NBG chief executive Allan Durning said that this represents the group’s single biggest intake at one time and takes them up to 74 members, trading out of well over 200 branches.

“Our turnover is way beyond three-quarters of a billion now,” he told buildersmmerchantsjournal.net, “meaning we are well on track to be turning over £1bn by 2012, which is our stated aim.”
