NBG completes first contract under category management

Independent builders merchant buying group NBG LLP has completed the first deal under its new category management structure which will see Everbuild taking over from Bostik in the supply of building chemicals.
Executive chairman Allan Durning says that the new deal shows the benefit of the new negotiating structure. “Groups of independent merchants like ours have to start thinking like national merchants if they are to fully compete in the marketplace and arrange the best, most competitive deals,” he told buildersmerchantsjournal.net.

“Suppliers need to understand that our category management set-up means that negotiations are likely to be tougher. The specialist knowledge of the chairmen and vice chairmen means we will be doing battle with a greater level of confidence and negotiating deals that work better for all parties, merchants and suppliers.”

The group will be holding its conference and Supply Chain Awards on January 18 at the Hilton Deangate, Manchester.
