Mira mixer valve targets less able market

Mira Showers are launching a brand new mixer shower aimed at the less able market, now often referred to as the ‘inclusive’ market.

The Mira Select Flex has been developed with input from key influencers, including Occupational Therapists and the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).

Incorporating safety and ease of use the valve has a factory set maximum temperature that can be adjusted on site if required. For added safety new Mira Cool Touch technology reduces the surface temperature of the metal hot water elbow to a safe level.

Adapted and extended lever controls enable ease of use, while the ‘select and forget’ temperature control can be left in the user’s favourite position. To help those with impaired vision, large and easy to read temperature-indicator graphics have been designed and the use of brushed chrome where appropriate increases contrast, but reduces glare.

Complementing the Mira Select Flex valve are new Mira Select Flex Fittings – based on the Advance Flex fittings but with a new chrome and grey finish. To reduce the risk of users using the slide bar as a grab rail, this has been designed to fit close to the wall. And it is also one metre in length allowing maximum flexibility for positioning the handset – particularly helpful when being used by wheelchair users or those needing a shower seat.

Further benefits include an extra long, 2m hose and an additional parking bracket, particularly helpful for use by carers. The handset on the Select Flex is the new Everclear, specifically designed to tackle the lime scale problems caused by hard water. The Everclear’s resistance to lime scale is a benefit recognised by Local Authority specifiers.

Benefits for specifiers and installers include the fact that being an exposed valve it is suitable for all plumbing systems and all pressures. Plus it’s easy and quick to fit; featuring variable pipe centres (139 – 153mm) the valve is suitable for both new and retro-fit installations. It will be covered by a five-year guarantee.
