Milford Building Supplies raises £2,500 for their charity of the year

Milford Building Supplies based in Leeds, chose a different charity to support every year.

This year they have been supporting Simon on the Streets which focuses on rough sleepers in the Leeds area who doen’t get support from any other source.

Five memebers of staff; Jamie Shaw, Robert Green, Wayne Rooke, Dave Lacy and Lee Adair, spent the night slee;ping rough, open to the elements at The Royal Armouries in Leeds, raising £2,500 for the charity.

“Starting at 9PM that evening they weren’t allowed to exit the premises until 7AM the next morning sporting only the clothes on their back, cardboard and a sleeping bag. Also present at the event were former and current rough sleepers giving their experiences on how the charity have helped them to improve their situations giving us a unique insight into the lives of the rough sleepers of Leeds,” explains Ryan Shaw, Sales at Milford Building Supplies.

Employee Jamie Shaw commented: “The hardship we endured during the evening, in which the weather was quite mild, made me appreciate the plight and struggle of the homeless who have to go through conditions so much worse day in, day out.”
