Merchants and builders seek to tie-up Green Deal work

Builders merchants’ trade federation the BMF is in talks with the Federation of Master Builders and DECC to work out how to get merchant and builders involved in the Green Deal.

The government’s Green Deal scheme, which launches next year, will offer householders the chance to improve the energy efficiency of their homes via loans which would then be repaid via their fuel bills.

The government hopes to retrofit 14m homes by 2020 under the scheme.

FMB is meeting with the Department of Energy and Climate Change officials next week as it is concerned how involved its members may be able to get.
